What height do you hang your paintings/photos?

You always hear people say to hang your photo photos/paintings at eye level. As we figured out this week, what’s eye level for me and eye level for my husband are two VERY different things…

So at what height do you hang your frames? I did a bit of online searching before we committed to banging more nails into our walls and the standard is actually 57 inches (144.78 cm). This is actually called “gallery height” because most galleries and art institutions hang their work at 57 inches.

The trick is that the MIDDLE of whatever your hanging should be 57 inches from the ground – take that rule into consideration and you’re pretty much ready to hang anything!

Hanging all of your frames in your home at the same level will provide a cohesive look throughout different rooms, even if the size of photos/paintings are different.

Check out the photo of the end result of this mini-project below!
